Girls Getaways are the latest rage and for good reason...they are loads of fun! Let's consider why to travel with girlfriends and then, explore some unique ideas of where to go.
First of all, why take a trip with your girlfriends?
That's easy...
1. You don't have to make the whole family happy, you're only responsible for yourself.
2. It's CHEAP! - you're only paying for one and you can split costs for hotels, bed and breakfasts and cars.
3. You can set your schedule and pace...relax in the B&B all day if that's what you feel like doing.

Here are my 3 top destinations for unique Girls Getaways:
-Newport, Rhode Island - This beautiful seaside town couldn't be more perfect for girlfriend weekends! Why? First of all the setting is spectacular...a lovely harbor town complete with cobbled roads, lovely historic homes and mansions and miles of beautiful coastline. Second, there are lots of charming B&Bs and fancy spa hotels to stay in plus many delicious seafood restaurants. Third, you will never run out of things to do here, for instance...historic mansion tours, great shopping, beautiful coastline walks, historical sights, spectacular ocean drives, walking tours and much more. Newport is only a 35 minute drive from the Providence RI airport or an hour from Boston.
-San Antonio, Texas - This pretty city with its meandering Riverwalk has a unique ambiance making it a great choice for Girls Getaways. Why choose San Antonio? First of all, the Hispanic influence here gives a great cultural feel to the city...it transports you "over the border". Second, a broad choice of accommodations make it great for any budget...luxury hotels, bed and breakfast inns and moderate chain hotels. Third, there are great Mexican restaurants and interesting attractions....The Alamo and other historic sights, boat trips on the river and many fun shops and a market to browse. Fly into San Antonio airport and either rent a car or stay on or near the Riverwalk and you won't even need a car.
-Cotswolds, England - Looking for something a little further afield? This quintessentially charming area of England can't be beat! The quaint villages and lovely countryside make for the perfect setting for girlfriend breaks. First of all, there are loads of quaint villages and hamlets to explore and great country walks to try. Secondly, the hospitable Bed and Breakfasts are the perfect accommodation to really experience life and meet people...unless you'd like the luxurious country manors instead! Also, check out typical "pub grub" and proper English tea and scones in the afternoon. Third, you will find many small shops to browse and interesting things to do in this historic and beautiful area...see the English gardens, check out museums and more.
